Art Jams

What is an art jam?

The Sunflower Project’s Art Jams are more than just creative gatherings—they are vibrant spaces where artists and people of all backgrounds come together to ignite inspiration, collaborate, and harness the power of creativity as our collective superpower.

Art Jams provide a unique opportunity for survivors, their friends, and families to share ideas, riff off each other's creativity, and embark on artistic journeys that transcend boundaries. From painters to poets, sculptors to dancers, we celebrate the diverse range of artistic mediums and voices that converge at our Art Jams.

Sometimes, The Sunflower Project’s Art Jams are centered around a specific theme and/or organized in collaboration with social justice, progressive, or fellow anti-sexual violence/abuse organizations. By partnering with like-minded entities, we cultivate an atmosphere of shared exploration. Art Jams create a nurturing environment where survivors find solace, inspiration, and strength. Individuals draw from each other's energy, delve into their own unique expressions, and find solace in the transformative power of art.

Jam with us!

The Sunflower Project's Art Jam program thrives on dynamic collaborations that benefits both individuals and the community at large. Our partnerships take a variety of formats including, but not limited to:

  • Providing an in-kind or low cost location that offers a welcoming and inspiring space for Art Jams to occur

  • Contributing art supplies and/or equipment for participant to utilize

  • Engaging in cross-marketing efforts to mutually expand the reach and awareness of both organizations’ missions and programs

  • Exploring co-presentation opportunities where organizations can share their expertise and collaborate on workshops or artist commissions

  • Offering professional expertise, education, or in person training such as various somatic practices or creative exercises to build a supportive environment amongst participants

  • Facilitating connections with local artists or activists to spark collaboration and inspiration

Together, we can generate innovative ideas and create meaningful experiences that empower survivors and promote the transformative power of art.
